Sponsored by the BiNet South Central Region this event united bi activists, writers, entertainers and GLBT people from across the country. Keynote speakers included Dr. Fritz klein and Wayne Bryant. This was the first time the Bi Pride Flag was allowed to be displayed on public property. The flag graciously flew above the Sheraton Hotel for 3 days. Presenters for the conference included GiGi Raven Wilbur, Michael Szymanski, Carol Queen, Wendy Curry, Ron Owen, Vanessa Edwards Foster, Sarah Depalma, Tony Michael Roberts, and me (my first workshop). GiGi was honored with the "1999 Bi Activist of the Year Award" presented by Dr. Fritz Klein, on behalf of the A.I.B American Institute of Bisexuality. Highlights for me included doing 2 live Radio Shows on KPFT 90.1 with Jimmy Carper, GiGi, Fritz, Wayne, Michael Szy, Carol Queen and Jon Spinner. A record number of Bi Pride Flags and gift items were sold. I met BiCafe member and BiCreations Artist STUTZ - her and I were the only 2 non-queer identified bi's in a particular workshop neither of us will soon forget! |
